Site Updates:

What's up! It's been a minute, but not as long as last time. You may notice some changes since my last post, such as:

I've been hard at work with all these changes and additions since last time you've heard from me, and I'm super happy that my website is finally becoming a more consistent project for me. I'm especially excited about the music player! My biggest goal with this site is to make it a representation of who I am as a person, so being able to share some of my favorite music now with anyone who visits my site makes me super happy!

Moving:

In other news, my girlfriend, Bunny, and I are moving in a little over a week! At this point in time, I only have 7 total days of work left, thank god. The scary part is that the best job I've been able to line up so far is only part time, which is not enough to be sustainable for us...
Thankfully, my girlfriend is getting a decent job and I have some very promising interviews lined up, such as one at Microcenter and one at a local game store, both of which are full time. Still trying to figure out a job so close to when we move is really scary, but we've saved up enough of a financial pillow to give me a little bit more time if necessary, and we can always Doordash if it comes down to it.

One of the things I'm the most excited about is going to be my office. It's not going to be very big, but it'll be the first time I've been able to do whatever I want with a room to make it the ultimate space for all my hobbies. I'll have my gaming PC setup, a hobby desk for stuff like gunpla, Warhammer, and mini painting, shelves and bookcases for displaying my books and finished hobby stuff, and a futon for visitors. Once I get that all set up and planned out, I'm hoping I'll still have some room left for a game table for stuff like Warhammer and my latest obsession, Magic The Gathering.

Hobbies

In my memory, since probably middle school, I've had a noticable cycle of hyper-fixations where I add a new one every 1-2 years. Once I discover a new interest or hobby of some kind, I eat, sleep, and breathe it for months straight. Often they stick and become a new permanant special interest of mine, sometimes they fade away over a year or so, but I wouldn't necessarily say I ever fully burn out.

This year's hyper-fixation is Magic The Gathering. A close friend of mine since middle-school had been laying the groundwork for a month or so, and I've had a passing interest for a while, so once I played my first game of commander I was hooked. I had been into Kaijudo, the Duel Masters spin-off, while it was still running, so I was able to pick up the basic rules and concepts relatively quickly.

One of the best parts about getting so into MTG now of all times is that I'm working at a print shop. I've been able to print hundreds of proxy cards with my employee discount, which has made a hobby with a huge monetary barrier for entry much more realistic for me. I printed out several commander precons to get started, and once I learned about a wider variety of cards and got comfortable I started building and printing my own constructed decks too!

Closing Remarks

In the past I've said that I wanted my blog to have lots of smaller posts more often, but now that I know I'm too lazy for that and I have a status.cafe feed, I feel like I'm content to keep these posts for larger updates and if I ever just want to rant about something in the future. If you want more frequent updates than this, check out my status.cafe! I've been posting several times a week consistently since I've started it, which surprises me but makes me happy.

With all that being said, while right now is a super stressful and busy time for me, I've got a lot of new stuff in my life coming up that I'm super excited about. I'm not sure how busy I'll be after moving, probably very, but I will try my best to give another update by the end of March if all goes well. I'm really happy with my progress on my site, and can't wait to move in to our new place and create the kind of life for ourselves that we want to live.
